Renege

Definition - To go back on a promise or commitment.

Example - Hopefully, our presidential candidates will not renege their pledges.

Yearbooks will be distributed beginning on Wednesday, May 21, 2008 across from the Band Room. Please bring your receipt to pick up your book. If you still owe a balance, you must pay a $5.00 late fee since you missed the deadline for final payments. Those who wish to purchase an extra book may pay by cash, money order or cashier’s check ONLY. No personal checks can be accepted at this time. Please stop by Room 231 for details.

Attention all Student Athletes: The Annual All-Sports Banquet is Sunday, June 1, 2008. Any student that participated in a sport this year is invited to attend, as well as their family. Tickets are required. Please see your coach for details or stop by the Athletics Office. Senior athletes must attend to receive their senior plaque.

Attention Seniors: If you ordered graduation announcements from Jostens, a representative will be here on Friday, May 16, 2008 during all lunches to distribute them to you. If you still owe a balance, bring your money on Friday so that you are able to pick up what you ordered.

Attention Honor Roll Students: Cherry Valley Golf Course is offering free golf to honor roll students. Students must bring their report cards with them to the golf course to show proof of honor roll achievement. Cherry Valley is also running an honor roll golf league. Call the golf course for more information at 421-1350 or see Mr. Mullen in the Guidance Office.

Attention Juniors attending the Junior Excursion on Friday, May 16, 2008: Please remember to pick up your tickets and shirts on Wednesday and Thursday mornings during your breakfast period in Room 206.

Ms. Lilly’s Dance Team participated in the Cheer and Dance/Drill Team America Competition held in Hershey, PA. on Saturday, May 10, 2008. The squad was awarded 2 trophies:

1. Scoring Excellence in the HIP-HOP Category - placing them in First Place
(Novice Division).
2. Outstanding Award for Spirit.

They were absolutely adorable, competitive, professional and charismatic. When you see them, congratulate them on these accomplishments!

Attention all Sophomore and Junior students: Cheerleading try-outs are quickly approaching for the Pocono Mountain West Varsity or Junior Varsity cheerleading teams for the 2008-09 school year. Intramurals will be held on Tuesday, May 13, Thursday, May 15, Tuesday, May 20, and Thursday, May 22, 2008. All intramural practices will be held in the Auxiliary Gym. They will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. You will be able to take the 4:45 activity bus home. Intramural sessions are not mandatory, but they are a chance for you to come see what our cheerleading program is about and decide if you would like to try out. Tryouts will begin on May 27, 2008 and last for two weeks. More information will come. If you have any questions, please see Coach Behr throughout the school day

Attention Sophomores: If you didn’t get a chance to order your ring last week when the representative from Jostens was here, you have another chance. The representative will be here on Friday, May 16, 2008 during all lunches. Bring in your forms and deposits to place your class ring order.

Attention Current Juniors: There are still openings in the Diversified Occupation (D.O.) program. Please see your guidance counselor as soon as possible if you are interested.

The West Ambassadors will meet on May 20, 2008.

Ms. Sicignano in Room 218 is still collecting cell phones for the Matthew Cuadra Scholarship Fund before or after school.

Urbane: There will be a rehearsal on Saturday, June 7, 2008 from 10:30-12:00 for a performance on June 8, 2008 at the Methodist Church in Moscow. There will be a picnic following the performance.

Attention Seniors: The only scholarship left to apply for is the Pocono Township Alumni Association. The deadline is May 19, 2008.

Attention Juniors and Seniors: On Thursday, May 22, 2008, the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia will be at Pocono Mountain West. If you are interested in meeting the representative, please stop by the 11th Grade Guidance Office (located across from the cafeteria) and sign up before noon on Wednesday, May 21, 2008. Only students who sign up will be issued a pass to attend. Seating is limited.

University of Michigan is offering a 2-week Math and Science Scholars Program June 29 through July 11, 2008 and July 13 through July 25, 2008. A Computer Security Summer Camp is being offered this summer at MCTI on June 19, 20, 23, and 24, 2008 from 8:30 to 3:30. The cost is $25.00 and scholarships are available. Students will learn how to set up networks, defend against viruses, configure firewalls, etc. Students will need their own transportation. See your Guidance Counselor for details. The deadline to register is June 1, 2008.
